Lindsay Duncan, also known as Lindsay Vere Duncan, is of Scottish ancestry. Lindsay did both, stage and television projects, and is well known name in both the fields. She took birth in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her father served in army for 21 years. Lindsay joined London’s Central School of Speech and Drama. At that time, she worked in mostly unheralded theatre roles. It was 1980s when she started taking television roles. In 1982, Lindsay Duncan was seen on ‘On Approval’. Her next appearances were on ‘Reilly’, ‘Ace of Spies’, ‘Dead Head’ and ‘Traffik’ etc. She also did the role of La Marquise de Merteuil in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses in Stratford, London and New York.
During the 1990s, Lindsay was seen in several stage and screen productions in London. She portrayed Elizabeth Leeford on 1999 TV remake of Oliver Twist. She was seen portraying Hippolyta and Titania in 1996 movie adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. On the TV serial A Year in Provence, Lindsay Duncan appeared as the wife of the author Peter Mayle. She was seen portraying the title character in Margaret. In the second of the 2009 Doctor Who specials, Lindsay would be seen as Adelaide, assistant to the Doctor. In 2009, she was appointed as the Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
Her next performance was on Rome TV show, a HBO-BBC series. She portrayed the character of Servilia Caepionis. She then appeared on Starter for 10 as Rose Harbinson. In order to portray the character of Lord Longford’s wife, Elizabeth, Lindsay took help from make-over.
Lindsay Duncan got married to her fellow Scottish actor named Hilton McRae. Their first child, Cal McRae, was born in September 1991.

The sophisticated and regal Roman matron, Servilia of the Junii was the mother of Marcus Junius Brutus, lover of the married Julius Caesar and enemy of Atia of the Julii. The character is derived from the historical personage of Servilia Caepionis, mother of Marcus Junius Brutus, and famous love interest of Julius Caesar. She had an important part to play in both seasons of series.
