In the series, transition from Roman republic to autocratic empire is sketched both from the aristocratic viewpoint and politically viewpoint. The series opens in Roman empire half a century before the dawn of Christianity, when Julius Caesar has completed his conquest of Gaul after eight years, and is preparing to return to Rome.
Julius heads home with very big loot in terms of gold and men. The aristocracy threatens to prosecute Caesar for war crimes when he reaches Rome. Pompey Magnus, Caesar’s old friend tries to instigate a mutiny in order to maintain the balance of power.

Rome episodes is really fantastic show. I always watch that show on online. I like all the seasons most but I mostly like the second season.
